Lake Placid

47 looks a lot like 46...I do see changes though..such is life...

This weekend I turned 47.  My husband took me on a long overdue couples weekend to Lake Placid...Why Lake Placid? We never been there before.  It was so cold at times 16 below!  We braved the elements and walked around the charming little town.  It was worth the money and the chance of frost bite to have this time alone with my love.  I had forgotten I loved him and was barely surviving life...plowing through my days as a truckers wife and a mom. Being reminded you are loved, wanted and valued by the person you chose to live your life with is vital.  This turn around started after the trip was planned.  I had to get away and it was optional whether he joined me. He had a week and a half off for Christmas.  During that time having every day and night together really set the tone for our weekend away.  The ride up was amazing.  We talked the whole five hours!

Going to get our sons exotic jerkies

Our Hotel

Breakfast at the Dancing Bears I had my favorite French Toast and Bacon

So cold that the ice cream didn't melt on the way back to our room

The hotel was average.  The room comfortable and cozy.  Perfect for the two of us...We walked around mostly, shopped and ate too much...even ice cream!  It is not what we did, what we ate or where we slept that made it perfect. It was walking arm in arm enjoying the sight and feel of the company we were keeping....the brief kisses and conversation that was long over due in our (nearly) 28 year old marriage.

Poor dogs! They had to be pulling 500 pounds

He remembered a hat he owns it has sled dogs on it and says "if your not the lead dog the scenery never changes" I'm glad I caught him in a happy thought...

We decided to go on a dog sled.  That was fun, but over with fast...less than 5 minutes.  Enjoyed quaint restaurants and the room time was exceptional.  It was hard to sleep in a strange bed the first night, but I loved waking up next to him Saturday morning.  Sleep came easy on Saturday night and we spent the last bit of our time Sunday morning sleeping in (Doug more than me) and then packing to get home.  We took a different route back, we enjoyed the view of different mountains, lakes and rivers.  Together, we have committed to making a yearly escape (Doug hopes to do it twice a year! Somewhere in the mountains and somewhere warm and sunny) just the two of us and something in the summer to take the kids. I hope to continue the tradition of going somewhere we have never been.  We have also promised to not let out life together get so dry.  A weekend in the mountains can't fix all our issues, but it did light a new spark as we continue our life and commitment with each other.

Heading Home

The future looks so beautiful and bright
They can dance under the moonlight
'Cause God is smilin' down on them tonight
And he wants to stay right here
Make it last for a hundred more years

And its only time
But it flies right by
And today is sweeter than we know

And so they dance under the moonlight
While God is smilin' down on them tonight
And they want to stay right here
For a hundred more years

Glad to be home with all three of my boys...being reunited with this one was priceless!

You're Still The One

Looks like we made it
Look how far we've come my baby
We mighta took the long way
We knew we'd get there someday

They said, "I bet they'll never make it"
But just look at us holding on
We're still together still going strong

You're still the one I run to
The one that I belong to
You're still the one I want for life
You're still the one that I love
The only one I dream of
You're still the one I kiss good night

Ain't nothin' better
We beat the odds together
I'm glad we didn't listen
Look at what we would be missin'

They said, "I bet they'll never make it"
But just look at us holding on
We're still together still going strong

You're still the one I run to
The one that I belong to
You're still the one I want for life
You're still the one that I love
The only one I dream of
You're still the one I kiss good night

You're still the one I run to
The one that I belong to
You're still the one I want for life
You're still the one that I love
The only one I dream of
You're still the one I kiss good night

Wyatt

Saturday Wyatt turned 15.  The celebration started with an annual sleepover on Friday night and ended with Sloppy Joes and Ice Cream cake Saturday night. In between we took a trip to Chuck E Cheese's as Jesse was in attendance of Timmy Bernet's birthday party.  Wyatt's friend Brandon went with us and the tow of them had their own mini party.  Afterwards to the mall for Wyatt to spend his birthday money and to pick a gift from his dad and I.  It was a tiring weekend, but a fun one with my birthday boy.

Turning Four

December 31, 2008, at 11:30 pm, was the first time I laid my eyes upon Jesse Will.  What a beautiful little boy we welcomed to our family...
December 30, 2012  We had his first "real" birthday party at our church.  Because my little one has a facination with eggs and a love for dinosaurs, we had a Dinosaur Eggstravaganza.

Chocolate cake, marble cupcakes with chocolate buttercream and jelly bean eggs

Starting with a dino egg hunt

A game called Pass the Dinosaur (hot potato)

Egg Race

Getting ready to blow out the candles...this is a Price Chopper cake.  My poor husband dropped the one I had made.

Suited the purpose

Tirzah gets first hit
Gavin makes short work of the Pinata

Quick repair as he broke the hanger
